SANTORINI (2007)
For Warlamis, Santorini was his “second” homeland. The history of the island, and especially the Minoan period, became the subject of many years of scientific research and artistic inspiration. He had founded the “International Architectural Seminar of Santorini” in the 1970s with the aim of studying the folk culture of the Aegean and the architecture of the island, building, urban planning and sociological, which was published in leading scientific journals and international publications.
The constant changes of light, the artistic genius of the folk craftsmen, the churches scattered everywhere and the caves that became dwellings, constituted for Warlamis an endless source of inspiration that was expressed in a large series of images that were presented both in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini) and abroad (Vienna, Munich, Paris).

he himself writes...
…what makes Santorini so fascinating, the mystery of Santorini, is the ability that the island gives us to realize the whole of a habitat, its history, its natural environment, its social and religious structure. You cannot find these in other places. It is a rare example, in the whole world, because it does not let man “see”, to observe it as an object, but accepts him as a guest, “embraces” him.
