The world of children

DESIGN FOR CHILDREN

The Warlamis educational program

The “children’s museum program” is a multifaceted, alternative educational and teaching program that includes furniture, toys, pictures, books and objects for the child and the children’s room.

A program that helps children adapt to a world that is increasingly narrowing for them – cars and facilities are constantly taking away the living space in the city – without losing their individuality, creativity and personality.

Children want colors, they need movement and space for their dreams. If children can play, then the world is okay for them. With play they dominate their environment, their imagination transforms objects and spaces. In their imagination a simple reed becomes a horse, a pile of stones, an enchanted tower.

Many of the ideas of the program were born and tested in collaboration with the children. “Learning from and with children,” notes Warlamis, “means that we secure childhood and keep the world of fairy tales alive.”

Warlamis himself, as an artist and educator, reveals to children a multifaceted and inclusive world, a place for them to gain experiences, a city of joyful ideas. Like a magician, he brings the world of fairy tales to life for children.

The CHILDRENS MUSEUM PROGRAMME caused a great impression and enthusiasm all over the world and was honored with numerous awards, such as, among others, the “PRIX DES PRESS” of the Parisian exhibition “Moving” 1990 for design and the first state Austrian award for good design 1990 in Saltzburg.
